Product demo video or interactive walkthrough: what should you buy?

October 20, 2026

A buying decision starts with the experience you want the viewer to have. Do they need to watch a clear explanation, explore a prepared path, or use the actual application? These experiences need different assets and different maintenance work.

An exported video gives you control over the explanation

A video fixes the order, timing, narration and visible product state. It can be shared as a file or viewed through a player. This suits a short feature announcement, a sales follow-up explaining one use case, or an onboarding task people may want to replay.

The trade-off is that the viewer cannot operate the product inside the video. A chapter or timestamp helps someone navigate the recording; it does not make the recorded interface live. If a button or workflow changes, you need an updated recording or a new render of the affected scenario.

DemoBro at demobro.com produces product demo videos from scenarios that describe capture, narration and presentation. The archived YAML → Video example is a silent website walkthrough of Stripe with a Dutch interface. It illustrates a video export; it does not show YAML editing, a live generation request or a customer revenue result. See the current DemoBro presentation for its present workflow.

A screenshot walkthrough gives the viewer a prepared path

An interactive walkthrough may let a viewer advance through screenshots and hotspots, follow instructions or choose among branches. It can be useful when the next action matters more than the timing of a narration.

Ask which parts are interactive. A hotspot on an image is different from an editable HTML replica, and both differ from a real application session. Before buying, try the exact interaction you need: entering data, changing an option, following a branch or returning to an earlier step.

DemoBro’s manual recorder supports editable screenshot steps and explicit publication of a public walkthrough. These captures are not an HTML replica of the application. Its local silent video export is also a separate output from a narrated cloud render. See the recorder guide for the workflow and capture requirements.

Personalisation has several different meanings

A personalised link might insert a viewer’s name into surrounding page text. An interactive demo might substitute variables in captured content. A personalised video might change narration, overlays, displayed data or the product journey itself. These operations do not have the same production cost.

For an exported MP4, the visible pixels and sound are fixed. Changing a query parameter does not rewrite that file. Ask a vendor to show which parts are changed before playback, which assets need to be rendered again, and which changes require a fresh capture of the product.

In DemoBro, a customer brief can guide a new scenario and narration. A changed journey still needs appropriate capture, and a new video variant can require another render. Review the proposed scenario and quote before generation. The sales demo workflow explains the requirements and CRM boundaries in French.

Buying checklist

Use a real task from your own product when evaluating a tool:

  1. Choose one task and the audience who needs it. Avoid evaluating with an unrelated landing-page tour.
  2. Confirm the format: exported video, screenshot walkthrough, HTML replica or live application.
  3. Verify access to the target product. A public-page capture and an authenticated session have different setup requirements.
  4. Change one line of narration, one displayed value and one product step. Observe what needs editing, rendering or recapturing.
  5. Check where the result can be shared, downloaded and revoked.
  6. Review the actual quote and your plan’s quotas. Include ongoing updates rather than judging only the first asset.
  7. Confirm how viewing data is collected. Playback completion is a viewing signal, not proof of a sale or a named person’s attention.

What to inspect in DemoBro

The homepage presentation shows DemoBro’s main workflows. The landing-page review catalogue shows narrated critiques of public websites. Those reviews can help you inspect narration and presentation, but they do not demonstrate every authenticated product workflow or a prospect-specific customer result.

Compare the available plans, read the API documentation, and prepare a small demo using non-sensitive data before scaling production. For a workflow driven by a developer tool or agent, continue with the API integration checklist.
